How long can I expect the original PRAM battery in my G3 iMac to last? (or is it 'use dependant'. When it does finally 'go', what will happen? Can the iMac still be used/fully operational with a 'dead' pram battery? - or will I have to replace it before I can continue to use my mac as normal? Thanks.

to see if you can use it when the battery is dead take the battery out and see if it will run without it on the charger. if not u could use a powersupply of the same voltage as the battery and at least the same wattage as the current charger conected to the battery terminals. another possibility is to replace the cells of the battery as these will be common batterys like AA all connected together.
