Recently, when I try to run Internet Explorer, the following error message comes up TWICE. I can "X" my way out, and IE will start, but will not go straight to my home page.

Error message is:

Cannot find 'file:///C:/Program%20Files/AOL%20Toolbar/wel
come.html'.
Make sure the path or internet address is correct.

Any advice gratefully received, as always.

uninstall the AOL toolbar from programs and features in the control panel

Thanks for that. Tried your suggestion, but problem persists - even after re-starting.

Still hoping for a solution ...
Try this - if you are aufait doing this....

http://forums.techguy...nnot-find-file-c.html

"This is a bug in the installation of the AOL Toolbar (why the moron’s at AOL can’t seem to fix it is beyond me since they are now at version 5.0 of the toolbar and the error started much earlier).

Look for the registry entry under key:
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsof
t\Internet
Explorer\Main
The entry for “First Home Page” is set to the (non-existant) AOL welcome file. Just change this to your real home page (or the blank page) and the problem goes away. (If someone knows of an easier fix - let us know)"

The problem is that the link is wrong and there is no such welcome file.
