Deciding to replace my pc just looking through them .Could you please explain what 1 tb hard drive is. How much more gb is it than 500gb. There is 1 with 3 gb memory and 500 gb and the other is 3gb memory with 1tb hard drive. What would be the best just for normal use ?

It makes the PC slower, but allows it to run. Yes it sounds as if it is "screaming out" for more real memory.
One thing you could check is the number of things you have running at the same time. They all grab a chunk of memory for themselves, and so if something doesn't need to run it may as well be closed down.
Also take a short while to see how much the cost is to upgrade your memory to max before opting for the new PC route. (Check the link I posted ) If the upgrade expense isn't great then it may be worth trying. But of course you do run the risk of still being unsatisfied and ending up buying new on top.

Yes Old geezer I do try and close other things down and yes I should have said virtual memory. But all the trouble I have had lately I think I have had enough as it works ok for awhile then back to square 1. It is a desk top I don't like laptops. But thanks again and as I say I have learned a bit more with your replies. I think the 3 gb memory and 500gb hard drive will be ok for me . I don't do any films or download much. Thanks again all.
