Bypassing the password command at Start Up

Does anyone know how to stop the computer asking for a password at Start Up - I just enter OK twice but it is annoying to get this box up every time asking for a password. Nobody else uses my computer so I don't need one.

Try going into your control panel menu from your start button at bottom left of your screen and in the control panel menu you should find user accounts. you can edit it all there.add or delete users and change pass words. maybe if you delete all user accounts you will not have this problem.

I have never used password on PC but I believe if you set the password to nothing/blank/empty string it will not ask you

RAV1D - are you absolutely sure? If I delete all user accounts won't it disable mine too? I'm scared to try it - would hate to lose AB !!

Are you talking about a BIOS password or an operating system password...?

Ann...what operating system are you using...XP, Windows 7 or Vista?

I'm on Windows XP - and the password box comes up as its booting up before the Desk Top displays. Sorry don't know Mark - bit too technical for me, computers are still a mystery, back in my day we used slate and chalk, fingers and toes ;-)

If it is the logon password against your user name, go to Start, click on Control Panel, User Accounts. Under Pick a Task, click on Change an Account, click on your account name (which should say Password Protected), click on Remove my Password, as you don't have a password set just click on Remove Password.

You do realise that this will leave your PC open to anybody that should be able to gain access to it and really you should have a password set for your own security!
