Was chatting to mate at work who was telling me he's trying to complete Black Ops story mode on veteran. He's stuck in the trench level and played it over and over for hours.

Made me pose the question - whats your most frustrating game/level ever?

I remember spending weeks trying to complete a challenge in Ghost Recon on the xbox1. It was the level where you start of in the voting centre and have to complete a firefight using one soldier on veteran. It was tough but I got there in the end.

The pinnacle was in San Andreas. It was the level where you fly the RC plane from a rooftop and have to take out 4 delivery vans across San Fierro. I was reduced to tears at one point.

One of the later levels in rainbow six took me about 3months of going back and trying to get though it. I eventually got through the first part which I was getting stuck on and was so happy I didn't notice the guy right in front of me who shot me straight in the head right before I hit the save point so had to go back to the beginning!

Or the old school stuff like manic minor/jetset willy where if you jumped onto a new screen and died by landing on a bad it would restart you jumping onto the screen in exactly the same place so you died by landing on a bad guy..... and repeat until all lifes gone!

haha I remember doing that on the ZX81. If you accidently jogged the 16k RAMpack the whole whing would crash. Then you'd type it all back in again. What better way to spend a wet October half term holiday!

Pre-windows and graphics - text only hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. I still haven't worked out how to get the babelfish into my ear.

I agree about the RC plane on San Andreas. There was also a really annoying mission on Vice City with an RC helicopter. You had to fly around a building placing bombs for Avery Carrington, all the while getting hit and shot at.

The most impossible and frustrating experience ever though is Driver 3. One of the chase levels. I played the same mission over and over again for about a month before leaving it and never touching the game again. I must have smoked about 500 fags trying to do that without throwing the TV out of the window.
I thin i gave up on about the second level of splinter cell. It was a really long space to the next save point and i kept getting caught by guards on a staircase and having to do about 20 minutes of the game each time.
Mine would be similar to your mates as it is CoD based. I once decided that i WAS going to complete CoD 2 on veteran to get 1000G. Many frustrating bits for me but the main one was trying to break into the trenches atop the cliffs on the d-day level or maybe even shortly after that where you have to escape the village or maybe after that.....
I had an RPG on PS2 called something like Kings challenge, cracking along really enjoying it, after about 20 playing hours you walked into a cabin and then into an enclosed garden, you stepped down into the garden but you couldn't step back up, no matter what.

There was something in the garden you needed to progress. I complained never got a reply. Took it back but I was really enjoying it up to then.
There has been a few troublesome games that have stumped me but the one that springs to mind is one of the COD games. I cant recall which one but i was on the Veteran setting and it was the Ferris wheel level here you have to hold out against an onslaught of baddies and then pick Mac (i think?) up and carry him onto the chopper, i (and some of my mates) couldnt ever complete it and it drove me mad, gave up in the end!
I am addicted to CoD black ops zombie online ps3 and like 5 hours in with just two of us left all the ammo, good guns packer punched etc etc the game would disconnect from the host/server at level 40. I could cry....leaving me and a complete stranger saying What The Funicular if different languages to each other. arghhhhhhh!
Lol it's funny reading about other people frustrations whilst gaming, for me though it has to be Blood Omen II, I simply can not kill that first bloody Vampire... grrr

ive given up for now.
