could someone help me with this question< pronto> my caps lock isnt on but im writing in caps< everytime i use the scroll wheel on my mouse it takes me back to the web page i previously looked at> it seems as though the shift key is permanantly on> please help< i think i@m going mad!!

this has happened to me before. it happens when you hold the shift key down for too long - it becomes locked. i got it back to normal by holding it down again (without pressing any other key). i hope this works for you - i know how annoying it is!

Yeah sticky keys are very annoying. Penny is right, it happens when you hold down shift for 5 seconds. You can prevent this from happening if you like. To do that, open the control panel. Then click accessibility options. Then click the sticky keys settings button. The top most check box is the one you want.

I must be missing something here, but what are sticky keys supposed to be used for ?

The idea is that some people with disabilities cannot press more than one key at the same time. So you hold down shift, and then need not do it again. Perhaps a little unnecessary.
