Device manager - multiple copies

Hello there. I know it's late for you but hope there's someone still around.

When I looked at device manager found I have multiple copies under some items:
eg. 8 copies for processor, 6 for HID - compliant device (whatever that is) plus various duplicates. They all appear to be working normally. Is there a problem? If so what can I do about it?

Win 7 (home) - Toshiba laptop (2 months old)

Thanks for that. Is it OK to delete the extra copies?

No. Don't start deleting things from the device manager. if everything is working leave it alone and stop fiddling.

Oh and I'd also guess that you have an i7 or high end i5 based laptop with 4 physical CPU cores plus 4 logical cores, hence why you're showing 8 CPUs.

The HID devices will be things like the touchpad, keyboard, hot keys etc (any input device really)

I'd seriously suggest that you leave things on the computer that you don't fully understand well alone and if you get the temptation to fiddle repeat the phrase "if it aint broke don't fix it" 10 times.

Point taken; I'll be good and leave them alone. Yes it is i7, quad core etc. Thanks for the advice.
