My Windows 7 is forever updating and a lot of the time there are errors, and the updates don't work. I am not technical, is there a way to get rid of these continual updates or at least make them update properly, this keeps slowing down my laptop and driving me mad. I have the setting as automatic update but I keep having this little pale blue logo with a yellow ring around it.

Control Panel .. Windows Update
Set to manual .. You take charge.
It will stop pestering . you should open Windows update once every couple of weeks and check/apply all updates it finds for you.
Don't bother (in my opinion .. and if you don't use already) with IE9 .. and latest versions of Net Framework. Uncheck those.
Make sure you check all security issues though.
Try that way.

Thanks Al, but why doesn't the updating work and I keep getting errors ? Its as if there is a blip somewhere blocking the updates ...
It depends when you get them exactly?
Is your connection nice and solid?
Do you clean out all temp folders and internet folder files regularly?
Question Author
Yes I clear out all temp folders regularly. My signal isn't too good, only up to the second white stripe although modem is in the next room. Could be something to do with the kitchen extension ? Also as you cann see by my other thread, I keep getting the little blue circle and it keeps not quite crashing but almost .. grrrr
