why will my computer burn tdk dvd-rw discs but not memorex dvd-rw discs any help appreciated

Because the Memorex ones are probably just badged Memorex and maybe Indian or Chinese made. Some are just like that.
If you want every one to burn properly .. with no coasters .. use Taiyo Yuden TYG03 -R and burn at no more than 8x (preferably 2x for RW)

It could be a batch problem. I have never had any problem with Memorex but I tend to buy either Sony or Verbatim these days.
