USB 1.1 or 2.0?

I want to buy a pen drive. How can I tell whether my computer has USB 1.1 or 2.0?

I would think that there are very few USB pen drives that will be USB 1.1 now. And as USB 2.0 is backward-compatible, you should go for one of those.

I realise that this doesn't answer your question very well - but apart from knowing which motherboard you have installed (or model of computer) then there is no easy way of answering. Sometimes the device manager (Control Panel, System, Hardware Tab, Device manager button under Windows XP) will tell you, but sometimes not.

Try going to Belarc advisor, it will give you loads of information about your computer system, and its free!!!

click start.......all programs > accessories > system tools > system information. click the + beside components, then click USB. It gives some info on USB components, and I'm lead to believe if there is reference to 'enhanced' then its USB 2.

But please dont take my word on this as gospel.
