Early 70s Film or TV Scene with a wedding dress... falling to pieces
7 Answers
Help! please its been too long...
I am looking for the name of a TV programme or possibly a film shown on British TV , 1968ish - 1974ish where a dramatic scene with a dress and glass case features.
I have tried to find out what this scene was for about 40 years. A dress or wedding dress in a tall glass case in a rear corner of a Victorian old ladies bedroom or parlour, she is sitting on a chaise lounge sofa in the foreground, and warns a young girl who is admiring the dress or wedding dress, in the tall case (at the back of the room on the facing left) "not to open the case" .
But the girl does secretly, behind the old lady, and when the air rushes inside in a of basic technique of film animation /time frame - the dress dramatically and rapidly falls to pieces.
It is NOT Mrs Haversham in Great Expectations. Only four or five people I have ever spoken too actually recall it...someone said it was a film about a girl and a dress she really wants to wear - to be able to keep sane!. Another person suggested it being from a never repeated since - European childrens folk type film like the Singing Ringing Tree series. Another from Alfred Hitchcocks TV series. I have looked on Youtube at some of these but still in vain!
WHAT was it? please help.

Unfortunatley on IMDB only 20% have synopsis added. But released last year - a DVD boxset featuring 8 colour episodes from 1970-73, includes one "Say goodnight to your Grandma", so will look out for this ! or if you know somebody who has it...
