ojread2, don't think david21 thinks it wasn't sent, was just my opinion. Sellers quite often say they have to wait the few weeks (3 or 4, not sure) they have to wait to put a claim in with Royal Mail before they will refund. I thought 2 weeks was quick. And the seller did say immediate despatch after payment received so don't think the buyer was expecting too much in this case.
daid21, so he didn't send it 'til you contacted him after 8 days ? If he sells regularly, that's pretty poor. Did he say he'd had Internet probs or anything ?
Have to say, if I ever had a buyer saying they'd not received something (was extremely rare !), first thing I'd do is send'em a scan of the Certificate of Posting.
Another thought on the feedback. Had forgotten about the DSR (Detailed Seller Ratings). Can leave a positive comment with poor DSR.

Um, I am not understanding where Ojreader2 is getting the notion that the item was never sent? Personally I believe that the prompt and apologetic refund is proof that they did.
Personally I am not comfortable with Ebay after a couple fairly high level negative experiences with them. First about six years ago my account was broken into, and several listings had appeared that were not mine. The second time earlier this year(which was a forced use of Ebay because it was the only website carrying the item) alerted me to their terrible missing item system. If you are not a paypal user and thus make a purchase as a paypal guest, this requires you to report a missing item through Paypal, Ebay won't take it. That's BS.
Anyway this seller I had dealt with had ignored me twice when I had attempted to email them to inform them my item had not arrived. I then soon after discovered that there is a system to contact a seller with concerns through Ebay. Then did they respond sounding very sympathetic and immediately sent another of the item was arrived in about two days.
Thinking on it now, I have to wonder about the likely hood that they in fact had two of the same item given how they had ignored my emails at first. Or if I had boxed them in a corner by showing them that no way in hell was I going to give up(they charged quite an arm and a leg for the item).
Anyway, I prefer Amazon their system is much easier and comfortable.
I think you are fine though David21, it sounds like this seller was right on top of the situation. So choose weather or not to give a thank you feedback for the quick and gracious refund and case closed.

Sahdow puppet - check CW1's post
I have also had my account hijacked. You were lucky you only had several items listed 'I' bought 100's of items Mwahahaha! One was a Nokia mobile that sold for over £1000 and the seller was less than pleased when I said I wasn't paying as my a/c had been hacked
I've tried using Amazon myself but just can't get on with it

Yeah well I had been swamped with emails concerning the listings which was how I discovered them. Then all Ebay did was put my account on some lock down so I could do nothing except post to the forums pretty much. It's still on it to this day actually I have no idea how to take it off and never get responded to on the forums which is another thing that is unpleasant about Ebay.
your situation does sound quite scary though, much more so.
