Unfriending on Facebook

If I unfriend someone on Facebook, will they be notified ?

Just to explain, it is a 'friend of a friend'. They are now in my Search list. If I 'unfriend' them, will they still be my friend's friend? It is complicated !

No. I usually block them, so they can't message you and ask why.

But will they still be the friend of my original friend ?? Will my original friend know I have looked at their friend ??

Yes, they will still be friends with the original friend. What do you mean "Will my friend know I've looked at their friend"? I don't get what you mean (sorry).

I have looked at the details of a friend of one of my friends on Facebook and now I want to delete them from my search list cos they keep coming up. But I dont want anyone to know, and I wondered if I could unfriend them as I dont think I can delete them from my search list.

they should only know if you've visited that profile if you have made some sort of comment on the page if you just looked at the info I dont think they can know that all those stalker type apps on fb are not usually right I came up on someones profile once as having viewed their page lots of times when I never looked at it once.Hope this sort of answers your question.

No I was being nosey .... if I unfriend them, will facebook confirm this to me by email so I know all is OK?

smurfchops it defo doesnt sound to me you are friends did you acutally make a proper friend request just to check their profile and get back a friend request accepted notification? if there profile was unprotected and you were just have a look you have nothing to worry about as far as I know.

Mwahahaha!....stop being so paranoid. You can look at everyones profile...no one will know. Unless you sent a friend request, they are not your friend. Unless you made a comment they will not know who has visited their page.

Nobody, even someone with access to get in to your profile would know that you had looked at their page so it's pointless trying to remove them off whatever list you can see them on. Even if you did block them you would not get any notification.

Facebook doesn't publish who has visited your page or anybody else's, and all apps that claim to do so are just marketing scams. If you aren't actually friends with them, you can't unfriend them, and they won't know you've looked at their page.

No I didn't make any friend requests. I thought it was odd that all this person's photo kept coming up when I DO search for a friend, then i realised she was a friend of a friend who I had looked at ! Facebook is so complex isn't it ?

Just to add fb will throw up all sorts of names of mutual friends from time to time so it wouldnt be unusual if fb suggested this friend for you through the people you may know thing so if that name comes up again and you are worried about someone seeing it just say it was suggested by fb.

they will know their 'total' has gone down by one but, unless you are very close, will not be able to remember who was on there anyway!

Just let me get this right. I looked at the profile of a friend's friend. Every time I go to Search for someone in People, their photo and name comes up. I just want to delete this entry from my Search list. I don't know this person and don't want to be friends with them - but I didn't realise I would keep getting them on my Search list . Hope this makes sense now - and just to repeat, would Facebook email me if I unfriend/delete them from my Search list ? And would they know I have unfriended them ? Sorry to repeat myself - I have never asked them to be my friend ! thanks again !
