I was trying to pay with Paypal when something happened and it looks as if I was attacked by a trojan virus - here are lots of red xs at the bottom of the screen and every icon has disappeared from my desktop.
Is there anything I can/should do?
Thanks

Well the obvious one is run a full scan with both your preferred antivirus software and malware software (malwarebytes is the best)

If you've not got malwarebytes, I'd suggest downloading it on another computer and installing and running it in safe mode (with networking) on the possibly infected machine.

Chuck - thanks for this - I took it to the technician at work and he fixed it for me.
Just to show how computer iliterate I am, I thought I was runing Vista and it turns out I have Windows 7.
Now I need some more advice, and don't want to bother the poor man again. I cannot find a 'My documents' folder - how do I create one? I have tried to do this in 'Libraries' with no luck. I am now saving all to an external hard drive.
