Windows XP Startup Issue
3 Answers
Recently, my computer has been failing to load 90% of the programs in the system tray when it's restarted - I have about a dozen things that should load up (Norton, Messenger, etc) but only a few load up when the computer gets turned on.
So far, I've been surviving using System Restore, but I'm unable to update drivers, and other things that require a restart. I've also tried using a program called Registry Mechanic, but that doesn't seem to have helped.
Does anyone have any kind of idea what is responsible for this, how how to remedy it?
Thanks

http://www.calibrax.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/upnpoff.reg
http://www.calibrax.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/upnpon.reg
Run the "upnpoff.reg" file, and click ok to add the information in the file to the registry. This will switch Universal plug & play off. When you reboot, your system tray problem should be fixed.
Disabling UPnP shouldn't cause you any problems, but if it does, then simply double-click the "upnpon.reg" file to put the registry back the way it was.
