Time scheduling

1/. I want to pause either mediamonkey or windows media player playlist for 3 minutes on the hour.

2/. I am using task scheduler to open radiosure player for hourly news reports for 3 minutes via internet then close.

3/. Resume music playlist.

4/. Possibly pause Film/music video playback and resume.

any ideas? can i carry out these operations from a batch file,script or even another timer program?
Info:- Setting up PC as media centre with output to TV and Hifi for continous music...
