Old hard drive Q

Technical thickton here...please be gentle with me.

I had an old desktop PC before it completely died on me about 2 years ago. Ive removed the hard drive from it because it contains loads of music ive downloaded and lots of photos.

Are these retrievable ? if so, is this easy to do ? I was just hoping i could plug it all into my existing lap top somehow then download all the stuff onto a memory stick

Please tell me it's that easy !!!

Its not quite that easy> Im sure chuck or one of the other PC experts will be more informative.

@ MarkRae...thanks fella...what a gadget !!!
That's one of the most useful things in my bag, highly recommend it. Make sure you follow the order of connecting and turning on in the manual though otherwise they tend not to be detected by the computer until you do it in the correct order.
Great piece of kit. Mine was £12.57 from Ebuyer.
