just picked up a sony walkman mp3 player from amazon..

but cant get it to work, have emailed the seller, it came with a cd, this wont play on my pc!!. surely it shouldn´t be that hard to use. theres no instructions, but surely these things are standard, as i´ve had another one before, which was easier to use.

Check out step 3 which explains about how to install the (awful) software that will allow you to transfer music to it.
From the instructions it seems that the CD doesn't autorun. You will need to open it in My computer and locate the folder which contains the correct language .

Ooh - that's interesting - I have an old one in a drawer somewhere that I don't use because I don't want the sonicstage software clogging up my laptop - is it possible to unlock them, or is it just certain models?

Errm. The iphone is even worse in terms of locking you in to proprietary software.
