Kindle mains adapter
12 Answers
Have bought, among other things a kindle for MOH but, I need a power adapter to charge it up. I can charge from the usb port on my computer but that takes for ever so I'm told. £17.00 seems a tad excessive. Any idea if there is another charger which will do the job, at a more reasonable price please? Any help really appreciated. B.

Did you not get a mains charger when you purchased your kindle? Have just looked on Amazon and they say these come with mains plug and USB, so can be charged either from the mains or from PC.

Just had a check, the genuine kindle charger charges as 850mA, so it would charge faster, but I'd also be very careful using to charge anything else USB as it may charge at a higher rate than the battery is meant to be charged.
It seems the kindle has a 1750mAh lipo in it, so normal convention would say you could charge it at 1.7A (1C) and then it would charge from empty to full in one hour.

we've found the new, cheaper kindle is a bit of a rip off. the old kindle came with a charger included for about £109. the new kindle, which costs £89, doesn't come with a charger so you have to buy it. not really a cheaper version is it? the new version also comes with less storage too. a bit naughty i think.
personally i would bit the bullet and buy the charger, you can then charge your kindle wherever you are, maybe on holiday without a computer.
