I keep getting a pop-up message saying the following:
AVG Advisor
High memory usage by the following application
Windows Internet Explorer
Total memory used 354
AVG recommends closing and reopening the application for faster performance
Change when these notifications appear.
There may be a couple of words missing - I am not quick enough before it disappears. Should I do anything or just ignore it? I am not computer literate so keep it simple please. Thanks to all you geniuses out there.
It means that you're running out of conventional memory and Windows is using a part of the hard disk as virtual memory. How much physical RAM does the machine have? What operating system are you using?
Thanks for your help mark. Unfortunately I am still as far away as ever as I just do not understand what goes on. I suppose as it doesn't seem to affect the computer's working maybe I should just ignore it. Would that be safe?
SB, I'm a bit confused. The link I gave you is a discussion on the AVG forum of the exact problem you're experiencing, and ends with an AVG techie describing how to disable it....
I can see that Mark but how do I get on to that menu so that I can tick the appropriate section. Please forgive an absolute idiot when it comes to technology. (especially computer technology).
sorry to butt in - starbuckone I'm exactly the same as you when it comes to computers but I've just follwed markrae's link and (I think) I've done it correctly - it was very easy to follow.
Thanks everyone. You are very kind. I think I have done it Mark, but I shall just have to wait and see if it pops up again. Hope not as it is very annoying.
