I've just downloaded it in a couple of seconds!

OK, that won't help you directly but I've then uploaded it to here:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/2fdcgt
See if that link will work for you.
(When you've downloaded it, remember that it's an executable file. You need to double-click on it in order to install the driver).

Chris
What happened with your other thread about this scanner? These are easy really. Just unzipping the executable DOES NOT install the driver though. : )
It's not a .zip file, Al.

It's .exe, so it should only be a one-step process to install the driver.

Piggynose:
If you require the CanoScan toolbox via the same route, just let me know.
The executable is a self-extractor
I have been doing Canon drivers for years.
OK, Al.

In which case, Piggynose, take a look at what you've got after running the .exe file. (I've just tried it myself). You should find a new FOLDER with the same (lengthy!) name as the downloaded file. Double-click to open the folder, then double-click on SetupSG.

Chris
That's better.

am i a complete non brain? i´ve tried to download the winzip self extractor, but its not simple, because just as you think you´ve finished, it wants you to give it a file name, which i tried 5 times without success!! plus is there as charge?
thax allbags & chris
You don't need any additional software .

Download the Scangear CS file to your PC, either by using my original link
http://www.theanswerb.../Question1082681.html
or from the one at the top I've provided at the top of this thread.

Double-click on the file which you've downloaded.

Now look for a folder which has the same name as the downloaded file (but without the .exe on the end of the file name). Unless you've selected an alternative destination it will be in the same place as the original download.

Double click on that folder. You'll see that it contains a ReadMe file and a program called SetupSG.

Double-click on SetupSG to run the driver installation program.

Restart your PC.

You'll then be able to import a scan from any program which uses TWAIN drivers (e.g. most image processing software, such as Photoshop or Irfanview). Note that you'll need to open the appropriate program first, then go to File > Acquire, in order to import your scanned image. (That's the way which I do things).

If you want a greater degree of automation in the process you'll also need to install the CanoScan Toolbox. (Either use the link in my original post or, if you experience problems, ask me to upload it to SendSpace or somewhere similar). The process will be similar to that used for installing the driver.

i´ll give it another go later

Image Program ...
IrfanView illustrated below ..
File/Select TWAIN source.
Select the Lide Scanner Entry (It will say Canoscan Lide20 .. then the version)

All you do to use is to open the Photo program .. Select Acquire .. Image, etc, etc. That will open the Canoscan Scanner Placeholder.
Calibrate settings first before use. Tick the auto pre-scan (preview) and swiutch on/off auto-crop as necessary.
