Laptop Keeps Jamming

I have asked this a few days ago, but no answers so will try again ... My windows 7 keeps clamming up for about thirty seconds at a time, I just can't do anything. I get the little blue circle going round and round. It is driving me mad. Help please ! But easy help please as I'm not technically minded. Thanks all. By the way if you say " have you ... " done this or that please explain how to do it !

Maybe there were no answers because everyone thought that was normal.
My PC jams so often I'm think of calling it Bob Marley.


Sometimes if you run the Task Manager you can get a clue as to what is hogging all the resource; CPU activity or memory. I get temporary relief by closing down IE and reopening it again with just the tabs I most want open.

Microsoft Security Essentials Mark. Should I change it ? I am always always getting slowed down cos the laptop is updating, another thing that drives me mad, almost daily. Please dont get technical with me !!
