what is the impact of new technologies on skill and creativity in design?

Interesting question rizla although will probably be moved to another section. In the early 80's i worked with graphic designers and artists who actually knew how to illustrate, paint and used "letraset" to design headings in different fonts. I'm in a differentt field now but it seems to me that the design area must be jam packed with people highly skilled in using computer design programs but probably can't draw for nuts. Having said that I've seen amazing creativity using new technologies and I guess as has happened over many centuries, you adapt and move on or become a luddite.
