What is the diffrence between all the three? Which is the best? I have a desktop, 2.4GHZ Pentium, 512MB ram and 40GIG h/d. Onboard intel Video Card and Sound Blaster 2.1 Sound Card. Which would be the best from all 3 considering its used mostly for playing DoD, playing music and surfing the web.

Well, if money is no object, just get XP Pro - it's more expensive but slightly more stable. XP Home is fine. Dunno why you'd want the Media Center Edition - you've not got a home theatre setup by the look of things.
I second Home: you are not going to add it to a domain so you don't need Pro (which is the main short-fall of Home).
Pro if you want excellent networking and IIS.

Home if youw ant to do what you're currently doing.

Media Center if you want to replace your TV.

This isn't an answer to your question, but if you intend to play games, consider getting an extra 512mb of ram cost between 35 and 55 from http://www.crucial.com/uk/index.asp

and a separate video card for example a radeon based 9600xt 256mb can be got for under 100 from www.microdirect.co.uk
