need help with i phone

my i phone will not connect ot the internet and i do not know why? It is new and im very unsure of how it all works but assumed it eould automatically do that. Also my daughter sent me 2 picture messages today and i have not received them so i expect is not set correctly for that either?

Do you have wifi indoors busybee? If so go into settings on the phone and switch it on, your phone should then pick up the signal, tap on it and it should ask for the passord, type it in and you shoud be up and running. If you have no wifi but want to use the internet, go into settings, general, network and enable 3g and mobile data, after a few secs you shoud be able to the internet through your mobile provider. Do you have an internet allowance with your contract, it can work out expensive to surf if you haven't. Hope this makes sense, good luck.

thanks for your answers no we dont have wifi as yet. the settings and mobile data network all seems to be set right but no mention of 3g? and data roaming is on?

Mines the 3GS, yours is obviously newer, the 3G option on mine is directly above mobile data. Word of caution, if you go abroad switch data roamng off or you may come back to a lovely bill.

I alwys keep it switched off on mine, I think it constantly updates the phone over your network, I've heard of horror stories from people coming home from holidays abroad to find mahoosive bills. I've just had a look at that user guide and it seems you just need to enable he mobile (cellular) data. If that is switched on, tape the safari icon, this should open the internet for you,if it doesn't I'm schtumped, maybe someone your model will be on here soon and be able.
