Transferring 8mm video tapes to DVDs.
8 Answers
I own an old type video camera and a number of 8mm tapes that have recordings on them that I wish to transfer to my computer and then onto DVDs.
I have the audio and video lead to connect the two, in easy to understand steps, how should I go about the task, please?
The laptop's operating system is Vista.

Last year I had 3 super8 cine films to transfer to DVD. 1 at 400 ft. 1 at 50 ft. both sound and one silent at 200 ft. I was charged under £60.00 to transfer them all to DVD and some AVI files put on a 500 GB external hard-drive which I sent with the films.
I sent them to ICVideo, Unit 4, Bridgegate Business Park, Gatehouse Way, Aylesbury, HP19 8XN Tel: 01296 334944 Worth a call and no, I do not have shares in the company; but I didn't have to buy any equipment that I might never use again.

Thanks for your answers but I am not talking about cine film but video tapes.
At the moment I just plug the audio and video (white & yellow) leads from the video camera into the front of my video recorder and can then transfer them to standard sized video cassette.
Or at the same time transfer them directly on to my DVD recorder/player's hard drive.
I just want to know how to put the images on the small 8mm cassette tapes onto my computer, to be later transferred onto DVD disc.

i think you need converter software which can be found for free on the internet. but the setting up and getting all the parameters right can be a nightmare for the novice. have you thought about getting a company to do it for you ?
