I have some MP3s and WMV files that are easily 100MB - 1,000MB in size. Is it possible to compress them to under 5MB without the quality being so poor that they can't be watched/heard?

I'm aware that there will almost have to be some quality loss but they will be all spoken word files so I think that we might be able to tolerate that, if it can be done.

MP3 is already a compressed format, so you wont gain anything by compressing them, but you should be able to change the quality of the file to the lowest level, a lower kbps, say 96kbps.

Right click on the files and see what kbps the files are now.
If you convert the WMV files to mp3 that should make them smaller, select say 96kbps
Aim for a wmv with 128k bit rate. Just my own personal choice. wmv smaller than mp3 with same bit rate.
Download and install the free FORMAT FACTORY from here:-

You will then be able to convert all files to different file types and bit rates to suit the quality required.
