We've got a 5 phone set that we can use in every corner of the house,
It was a xmas pressy 5 years ago, in the last 6 months 3 of the phones have gone dead, tried changing batteries but to no avail. Are they just knackered?or is there a way I can get them up & running again?
Or is it time to get a new set?

Are the phones

1) actually 'dead' - as in they won't power up

or

2) they power up but have no dial tone & don't ring when calls come in

If it's (1) then they may indeed be ready for landfill - but if (2) then what has happened is that they have become disconnected from the base station. This quite often happens when an extension unit is powered off for...

If it's (1) then they may indeed be ready for landfill - but if (2) then what has happened is that they have become disconnected from the base station. This quite often happens when an extension unit is powered off for more than a few minutes.

To reconnect each extension unit to the base you need to "pair" it with the base. The procedure for this varies with each model, but is usually in the original handbook/manual - or post back here with the make/model & I'm sure we can find the procedure.

PS - and thanks for all the jokes :-)
When you changed the batteries did you get rechargable ones?
Just a thought as I'm guessing they charge via the stand....

Si the original batteries ARE the rechargable ones and yes we've recharged them all but Nothing.

Dave we think we come into the (No/ 1) catagory, but here's the details anyway. Sirrus 400. (One Tel) CE0681
Dunno if that helps!

Joke for you-----

Michael was awakened by the telephone at four A.M. It was his drinking mate, Liam, calling long distance from New York "What's the matter?" asked Michael. "Are you in trouble?" "No!" said Liam "What do you want, then?" "Nothing!" "Then how come you are calling me in the middle of the bloody night?" asked Michael "Because!" said the other 'Paddy', "the rates is cheaper!"
lol jem very good.

I believe there is a duration for rechargeables and they have come to the end of theirs.
I meant like Alba, if you got ordinary batteries they may not work like new rechargeable ones, our phone went wrong recently and a new set of Niamh's done it the world of good - as in it charged and worked afterwards.

Oh, and don't forget that initial charge may take up some hours.
