I have a Samsung Galaxy S. On many applications after initiating, the program grinds to a halt and the following errow message is shown "The application Gmail (process com.google.android.gn) has stopped unexpectedly, please try again". Unless there is a fix I may have to reset to factory default. Would someone tell me how to do this please?

The help site says and it works. Go to the menu then settings, privacy where one will find the factory reset.
Well, have your tired clearing the cache and the data stored by the Google Play Services and Google PlayStore app. You can do that by heading over to the setting>application manager>tap over the app you want to clear the cache and the data for. Once done again try opening the app and see if the problem still persist or not ? If you still encountered problems then you can try removing the Google account by heading over to the settings>account and Sync> Gmail, remove the account and also again try clearing the cache and the data of the Google Play Services and Play Store app. Once done restart your device and then again try checking I am sure your problem will vanish.
