I am trying to find a way to eradicate the recent files list in Open Office 3.3.0 which is growing ridiculously large.

Someone suggested using the Tools | Customise menu and removing the "Recent" dropdown entry. I did this and so I can't get to recent files BUT I can't find a way to add the "Recent" dropdown entry back again.

So that is the first problem; the second problem is that I still haven't found a way to get rid of previously "recent" files and still have the ability to have newly opened files added to the Recent file list.

Surely this must be a basic requirement and I must be missing something VERY obvious!

Thanks in advance

To put recent files back on the menu:
Tools/Customise
Select the menus tab
Select File In the top section
Click Add in the middle section (menu content)
Scroll down the right-hand list and select Recent Documents, then click Add
Sorry, I've been through every option and checked the help, and I can't find a way to limit the number of docs shown :(
