Thanks to all who have suggested a remedy but I am still stuck.
When I open up the spreadsheet it starts a column B. I do not have a hide unhide command. I have tried all suggested actions. Further suggestions welcome

Not sure why you started a new thread. Perhaps if you answered the questions in the previous thread (which spreadsheet software are you using?), you'd get better help.
The danger of starting a new question is that DIFFERENT people who didn't see the original may now come in offering the SAME solutions.

I don't think anyone's suggested this yet but in Excel 2010, at the intersection of the row and column headers, is a square with a triangle in it http://i39.tinypic.com/akuxhh.jpg - click on that to select all columns, then RIGHT-click on column B and choose the UNHIDE option.

I don't have an earlier to version to know if it works with those too.

Thanks to all who have tried to help.
The problem has beaten me so I am rewriting the schedule.
ps the question was accidently posted twice.

Unsure which application spreadsheet you are using, but maybe it is a case of simply renaming the columns ?
