Technika/Sharp TV's
18 Answers
Can anyone with a bit of know in this area give me an idea of the quality of the above brands for TV's?
I know they won't be as high quality as Samsung or Sony but are they still relatively decent? And is either one of the above better than the other?

My son has the latest Samsung and confirmed my picture is better. That's opened a can of worms.
Technika are a "Tesco only" brand, and like all supermarket brands you have no idea who made them so no idea of the quality.
My guess is they are "cheap and cheerful".
Which magazine has given some pretty poor scores to Technika TVs.
p.s. Saw an article in Which last month that said cheap TVs can be a false economy as they can be high on electricity use, even when switched off (on stand by).
Which magazine compared a cheap brand with a "quality" brand and over a couple of years, with the extra cost of the electricity to run the cheap brand, it actually cost more overall than the expensive brand.

A cheap sharp is not going to have such a decent screen in it as an expensive Samsung, and vice versa... it does come down to you get what you pay for.
Also cheap TVs may have a fairly decent picture, but the image processing on them can be terrible which means that they look lovely showing virtually static images but get a lot of things moving about on the screen fast and it all falls to bits.

I did go into Currys the other day in the hope of striking a deal and spent a good half hour looking at things but the staff pissed me off because they were so busy chatting they didn't notice me there so I got a little strop on and thought if they're not interested then neither am I.
Need to find somewhere else but alot of those sort of shops have closed round here.

Richer Sounds sell "end of life" stock thay I think they buy in bulk from companies after they bring out new models.
They are all new of course, but maybe 6 months old models (so hardly ancient)
They have a Sharp 40 inch at £299 (LC40SH340)
