If you have 'Nero' Vision express is fairly simple.

Check out this Link the guides and tutorials section will tell you everything. The website is really handy for all media and DVD solutions

if its a DivX AVI read this Guide

Good luck, its not that easy.

If you have Nero Vision Express, it is really simple. You just select the AVI files you want to burn to DVD, and Nero automatically converts the file.I do it on an almost daily basis and rarely have any problems.
Other good programmes are Winavi Video convertor and DVD Santa.(worth checking these out)

Cheers all. Teak, presumably I can't just burn an avi to DVD and have it play in my home player, or can I?

more and more stand-alone DVD players can play mp3/wma music files, view JPEG/BMP image files and some now can play MPEG4/AVI files.

But they have to be in the right fomat, and changing them to the right format is just as tedious as changing them to DVD.

TEAK36 means using 'Vision Express' to encode the AVI file to DVD format (VOB,IFO,BUP). It is the easier option, but getting hold of 'Nero' without paying a fortune can be a struggle. and if the original AVI file was converted by a cheap program your final results may have out of sinc audio, or pauses.
