Pay Monthly Smart Phone?
7 Answers
I'm thinking about switching to pay monthly and getting a smart phone after years of using old mobiles on PAYG, I will use the internet for apps and checking facebook, emails and googling stuff when out and about; how many MB of internet should I be looking at? TIA

I would have thought that 500MB would have been enough, as you're not d/l songs, films, etc. Just brousing on the internet, checking emails and googling don't use too much.
Have you considered getting a SIM only contract? If you already have a phone - all you pay for is the mins, texts and internet. When my 18 month contract was up - I decided not to upgrade, as I was more than happy with my current phone (Nokia N86) so I went onto a SIM only plan. I'm on a 12 month contract and I pay £15 per month. For this I get 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 1gig internet :)

If you are thinking of Pay Monthly and sim only .. have a look at .. http://giffgaff.com/.. runs on the o2 network.
Choose the minutes and texts that suit you, and browsing is unlimited.
Personally I would'nt get involved in a longer term contract, as there are quite a few sim only deals available, with just a short 30 day rolling contract,
this leaves you free to jump ship when you spot the next best deal.
Whichever way you decide to go, make sure you check with a cashback site first, as there are plenty of deals around where you can save £££s on a new contract or phone.

Thanks both; I'm not happy with the phone I have as the buttons are going and it would be rubbish for browsing the internet; also can definitely not b doing with swapping contracts all the time; a 12 month one is appealing to me as I simply don't have the time to be researching and changing all the time! The reason I ask is because I got a text from o2 offering a deal to switch to pay monthly but they are only offering 100mb of internet and didn't think that sounded like much!
I can't really suggest any models, but you'll prob be able to get a half-decent phone for around £30 per month, although you might have to sign up for an 18 month contract.
With regards to the SIM only plan, you'll find that if you sign up for a 12 month plan you'll get a better deal. The plan that I mentioned in my previous post, would have cost me £20 per month on a 30 day rolling contract - yet because I signed up fpr 12 months, I get exactly the same for a fiver per month less :)
