What registry keys / files do i delete to clear the recent programs list in the XP start menu?

You don't need to hack the registry. Just right click task bar, choose Properties/Startmenu?Customize and then click the Clear List button.

Cheers for the answer, Rojash. But my history cleaner can accept user-defined plugins, and id like to create one for the Start menu out of interest.
you can try using Tweak UI for XP.. download it from microsoft.com. Does a lot of the things you'll want to do.
