4 Answers
I turn the ringer off so we are not disturbed, but keep phone on vinrate so daughter can get in touch But then the phone vibrates like it's ringing but there's no incoming call or message, it is driving me mad, why does it do it and can I stop it, without turning off the vibrate

it's notifying you about something, I was guessing that it's in a pocket and it's detecting the screen being touched and vibrating, but it seems you'd need to install kickback on that phone to have that option (that's under settings > accessibility options if it's there)... otherwise you'll have to figure out what it's notifying about and disable the notify for that event (it could be anything, new email if email is setup on it, new facebook notification if it has facebook setup on it.... and so on)
