I used to have a google email address but never used it, and with all the recent hoohaa about privacy etc I just deleted it rather than mess with the settings etc.
However I have just bought a google android tablet wnd somethings require me to have a google account - can anyone tell me how I can create one and keep it totally private...?
Thanks

I came across this same problem last night joko. I'm not sure how to get around it so i'll be interested to see what answers you get.

I did see there are settings to limit things but want to make sure I do everything possible
I have a couple of gmail addresses. One is used exclusively for work - emailing my boss and some colleagues - the other has been used to sign up on some sites I trust and is occasionally used by a couple of my friends. I have never changed the settings on either account, and do not publicise them. I have never had any spam emails and, with Firefox and Adblock+, I never get to see any ads either.

I suspect that it is a combination of not making either of the addresses public (by putting them out willy nilly on the net) and using unusual names which are not in the dictionary which keeps them spam free.
Google accounts are private, they just use info to serve you Ads.
If you need that much privacy use encryption.
