Does anyone have a 25 character product key registration number that I could use to access my Excel workbooks? I have never had one before but am now unable to add data to the workbooks without one.

I think you have to buy the programme to get the reg key - have you been on a free trial until now?

Open office will open nearly all excel spreadsheets perfectly OK and it's free.

You neeed to pay for a 25 digit key, they are not free and no one is likely to give you one for nothing.
