Typing on this site in italics

I noticed on a thread today that someone has typed an answer in italics - it looked so nice as nobody else has ever done so on Answerbank - just how do you do that? I didn't think we had a choice of font on here?

You need the square brackets Ann - to the right of the P (without caps lock on)
