Sony RDR-HX870 dubbing.

When trying to transfer some recordings from my RDR-HXD870 Sony DVD recorder/player's hard drive on to a DVD disc, it sometimes comes up with the message "this cannot be hi-speed dubbed".

This generally happens on certain vintage video eg.films and TV shows, can anyone please tell me why this is, and how does one transfer such media?
