Internet Scams?

I have just opened an e-mail from an Andre Schults of [email protected] saying that when I spent £69.95 on my credit card in February 2011 my details were obtained by a fraudulent company which now may use them for illegal means and is under investigation by the authorities.
It tells me to cancel my credit card and obtain a new one for which I can obtain $49.95 compensation.
The credit card number given is unknown to me but could well have been an old card I've since cancelled. I do not recall the transaction.
The worrying thing is, all the other details given, My name, address, telephone number etc. are all corrrect.
It looks like a scam but I'm not sure..............Any ideas?

Thanks for that Rocky. It shows I'm not the only one to receive this e-mail. In fact the details given by the other person are exactly the same as mine in respect it is a Russian company etc etc.
Unfortunately, as the other person did not do anything about it either, we still don't know either way exactly what the scam (if any) is.

I still don't know what the scam is but am signing off now to give my computer a debugging. Just in case.

Park, You obviously know the score regards these scampers, they will try try & try to get our details but its up to US LOT TO HELP EACH OTHER, if each one & everyone one that receive these type of Mails / attachments we will be one source that they can not con, this is also when we have got to HELP the really senior users on this site, I am not implying by any means that they will get conned, but we can certainly prevent it.

Thanks everybody. Have been on to my credit card supplier and they said not to touch it with a bargepole. Just ignore and they are investigating themselves.
