Even though we live in a busy area, our Vodafone signal has always been bad, yet when my phone was due for an upgrade I was assured that the problem was being dealt with and so I stuck with vodafone and was given a new Blackberry 9300 3G. I cannot get 3G anywhere at all, in any area. I have a Sure Signal connected to my router - makes no odds. My signal is barely one bar, and several times a day goes to the red SOS signal.
The tracking pad scrolls up when I am trying to write a txt or read anything and so I have to hold the left button to hold the screen and use right finger to type. I have rang Vodafone endlessly and keep getting fobbed off, and have only just started a new contract with them. What else can I do?? I have wasted so much time on the phone to them.

I had a similar problem with O2. Throughout my two year contract with them and an iPhone 3GS I endured a very weak signal along the lines you describe. At the end of my contract I told them I was leaving and was assured that the iPhone 4 would not have the same problem and I was persuaded to take out a new contract with the proviso that I could cancel if it didn't work out. When I received the new phone, it was exactly the same and I returned it immediately and cancelled (you have an option to do this for, I think 14 days). I took up a contract with Vodafone and after some three months I have only once failed to get a 3G signal and this recovered when I switched the phone off and then on again. I think it fair to say that the providers seem to have black spots where they can't achieve a decent signal even though the post code denotes the opposite. In such circumstances Vodafone have a system you can revert to whereby they can obtain a signal through your wireless router ( providing you have one of course) but I haven't found the need to use it.
I would write to them and tell them you want out of the contract on the grounds that they cannot provide you with the service you are paying. Worth a try.

Thanks guys, it is sooo frustrating. Its over 14 days though so will give the letter a try
If you have broadband at home, I suggest you contact Vodafone and ask about 'Sure Signal'. That's what their system is called when the 3G signal is insufficient and is designed for just such a problem. If that doesn't work, you should have a case for cancelling the contract.
