UNLOCKING PHONE TO SEND ABROAD.

Hi, I want to send my LG Touchscreen phone to a friend in Malta. I have tried a different SIM n it but the phone will not accept this. If I have the phone unlocked will my friend be able to put her sim in it and use it in Malta? The phone is with O2 at present. Thankyou in advance.

Yes, that should be fine. Once the phone is unlocked it should be able to use any sim.

Some words of caution. I had a phone which was locked to O2 but I wanted to be able to use other SIMs in it when abroad. I got it unlocked and the original O2 SIM was put back. When I later took it out and put in another SIM I found that the phone had relocked to O2. I think the answer is to get it unlocked and leave the SIM out.
