Alternative to power point

Hi does anyone have an alternative programme to power point - I find it very limiting with the back grounds and if you want to roll on to another subject in the same presentation it all looks the same and only an empty slide gives a clue to a different " advert" for instance
any ideas

Open office presentation...

But depending on which version of PP you have OO is likely to be less featured.

If you are giving a serious, professional presentation there's a lot to be said for similar backgrounds on all the slides. OK, it might be clever to be creative with different backgrounds and different transitions from one slide to the next but this sort of thing is easy to overdo such that your audience may be concentrating more on what different feature is coming next than on the actual content of the presentation.

Thanks I'll take a look at Open Office and libreoffice - I have a very simple looped presentation in my window ( no music no voice over ) I leave the screen on all the time - so I would like to add what is essentially a second and third advert and then roll around to the first ?

Thanks every one - but especially markrae and nibbles for the links - HOWEVER when I go to Impress and click on the links embedded in the page I get a "page not found message" so I cant actually see the programme - any further help would be greatly appreciated THANKS :)
