how do i deactivate notifications coming through as a text message on my mobile?

What kind of phone do you have? Are they push notifications on a smart phone?

If so then try looking in your settings for notifications and turn push off or if there is a facebook section in your settings (if you have a Facebook app) you may be able to do it from there.
