Why is that the younger generation find it much easier to operate technological produts (mobiles, computers etc) than older generations? Is it purely down to experience??

their minds are more open and as everything is much newer to them they find it easier to learn to use new equipment as life is still one big learning curve to them !

us oldies have to learn everything over and over and over !!!

thats my theory anyways

Up until a certain age (I'd say possibly even before you're a teenager : I can't really remember though) their brains are different.
We're somehow genetically designed to be better at learning at a young age.
If I and a 5 year old were to start learning French tomorrow, I can guarantee that the 5 year old would learn better and faster.

Also, to a degree it's all kids talk about. The latest mobiles, ps2 etc. so they're far more familiar with technology and can extrapolate what they've learned of one technology to a new one that they (and an adult) are unfamiliar with. Adults are just left with the "unfamiliar" feeling.

I'd say that teens (including me!) find it easier to use a pc/mobile/ipod because we're growning up with this new technology. You adults find it had because its somthing completly new. rich

Is it really that difficult to operate a digital camera or ipod for example though? Seems slightly strange that a particular age group find it difficult to adjust to use the product, even with the instruction manual!
I have been playing with gadgets and stuff all my life and find it odd that people half my age (I do remember the 1960s! hahaha!) develop temporary insanity when faced with a couple of switches and a dial. Maybe it's like those kids at school who just could not grasp maths and logic however many times they were shown. Shutters come down in the mind; self inflicted most of the time I suspect.
