Anyone know how to do a screen print on a Sony Vaio?

I have tried the usual ScnPrt button but when I try to paste it the option is greyed out and it doesnt do anything. Only other option seems to use the cutting tool, but even that wont paste a screen shot into an email, I have to save the image and send as an attachment.

Seriously fed up with it, and wish I had saved my money now.

If the print screen is labelled in a different colour than normal on the key press and the FN key while pressing it.

Or use the windows 7 snipping toll and click the icon in the tool bar that look like to pages to copy the snip to the clipboard.
"press and the FN key while pressing it. "

that should have been press and hold the FN key...

Thanks I will try that (put the laptop away and using PC at moment). The snipping tool doesnt paste the snapshot into an email for some reason.
Have you got Paint on your computer? If so, you could try this (I have a PC, so I have no experience of laptops, but you never know...):
Press PrtScr.
Go to Paint.
Click Edit tab (top left of screen).
On drop down menu, click Paste.
With a bit of luck, you should now see your screen image.
If this doesn't work, my apologies.

There's no difference between a laptop and a desktop PC apart from what they look like, they work exactly the same.
Thanks for the tip, ChuckFickens. I'll bear it in mind if I go shopping for a replacement for my PC.

Pressing the FN key at same time as Prt Scrn button didnt work.

Chuckfickens, what do you mean by the icon that look like pages to copy?
Use the snipping tool, once you've selected the area you want to snip a window will pop up showing what you've snipped, on the tool bar the third icon from the left looks like two pages, click on that and it will copy what you've snipped into the clipboard, you can then paste it into anything that will accept a image being pasted into it.

What are you trying to paste into BTW (and I mean exactly, not just email, what email service and how do you access it)

I am having problems with some softwear (see another thread if you know anything about Dreamweaver), and trying to copy the errors into AOL email.

Thanks for the illustratration, problem I have now is I cant use the email option as there is no email programme associated with it. Grrrrrr. I give up. £700 down the drain and back to the old desktop PC at the moment.
save the snip and attach it as a file.
Question Author
Yes I did that, but it isnt as easy as copying and pasting.
