Installing Google Chrome

I have recently purchased a dell netbook and the internet is running through
the internet explorer icon.

But have installed Google Chrome and its icon is present but it is not working
when you click on it only through the internet explorer icon.

The operating system is Windows XP and I have run a virus scan using AVG and all appears to be ok.

Any suggestions welcome?

Did you set Chrome as your browser

Yes both internet explorer icon and the google chrome icon should working
but only the former is?

Have you tried starting Chrome from the Start Menu?

I have managed to find the answer from the interenet incase anyone else
has the same problem.
You have to install a software uninstaller . I chose revo and it managed to
remove the google chrome from the previous owner and allow me to download
again the latest version of google chrome.
