This is the only way I can describe it. I've just had a new hard drive put on my laptop and when I am typing (like now) sometimes the letters jump into a word I have just typed a few words back ! I then have to delete and type again. What's going on? Non techie answers please!
Sounds like your palms (base of the thumb, probably) are brushing on the pad as you type, occasionally moving the cursor back in your text. That's why I use a mouse and disable the touchpad. Touchpad properties might have a 'palmcheck' setting which would help reduce this - never tried it, though.
Thanks all but I'm definitely not touching the touch pad ... I type quite fast as it is my job, so my wrists are nowhere near the touchpad. Help please !! Also sometimes when I hover over something it opens it up without me even double clicking....
No ! If it is the touch pad however, what can I do? When I go into my control panel (Windows 7) there is nothing I can find that will change the sensitivity - nothing about the keyboard or even a mouse (which I don't have and don't want really) I didn't have this trouble with my old hard drive by the way.
