can someone tell me why printer inks are so expensive. replacing mine cost nearly £40 and a new printer is only £38 with ink in it. im fed up of spending money on ink. does it boil down to buying new printer everytime.
I have tried compatable ones which are a few quid cheaper but they dont last 5 mins. any solutions.
I use Epson compatible cartridges from local Cartridge World franchise shop. About half the branded Epson price and no problems so far.
On-line sources are much cheaper still.
The cartridges with new printers are only for test, they only last a little while. I have an HP printer and we get our cartridges from Tesco or Smiths when they are on special offer - there are also some good prices on eBay for new cartridges.
Printer Epson Stylus Photro RX425 now five years old. Works a treat.
Compatible inks from online at 4 blue, 4 cyan, 4 yellow and 8 black - all for only £7.99 and post free. Excellent value and print as good as genuine Epson.
Have been running an Epson PX820 for 2 years now on a CISS bulk ink system. The system costs about £30 and you can buy the inks by the litre and share with friends... I find the quality is far better than cartridge inks...i.m.h.o. If you buy a new printer then do as I did...sell the cartridges on Ebay and this will cover the cost of the CISS system....:-)
